Web design
What a tattoo artist’s website needs to get you bookings
Your Instagram shows your work. Your website has to do more: help visitors understand how you work and book an appointment without going round in circles.
Your website doesn’t compete with Instagram: it completes it
Instagram is where people discover you. But your profile mixes everything together, doesn’t explain how to book, and everyone has to message you to ask the same things. Your website is where all of that is clear, organised and always at hand, including for people who find you on Google.
This is what it shouldn’t be missing.
1. Your work, large and organised
It is the first thing people want to see. Show it well:
- your own photos, sharp and well lit, of recent work;
- organised by style, so everyone can find what suits them;
- with a little context: the style, the part of the body and, if you like, the story behind the piece;
- without watermarks covering the work.
Twenty pieces that represent you are better than two hundred in no particular order.
2. Who you are and how you work
People don’t just choose a tattoo: they choose the person who will do it. Explain which styles you specialise in, how you develop a design from the idea to the session and where your studio is. A photo of you or the studio helps people trust you.
3. A clear way to request an appointment
This is the part most often neglected. Someone who has already decided to get tattooed by you should find the booking button without looking for it, and the process should be short.
Think about what you need to know to prepare the appointment and ask only for that: name, contact details, the idea, the approximate size, the part of the body and when suits them. If your sessions need a consultation first, say so clearly and explain the steps.
With a booking system, people see your free slots and book on the spot. And if you would rather review each idea before confirming, the booking can stay pending until you approve it.
4. How you work out the price
You don’t need a fixed price list, because every piece is different. But it is worth explaining how you calculate it: whether you charge per session or per piece, whether there is a minimum price and whether you ask for a deposit to book, and on what terms. That way you get fewer ‘how much is a small one?’ messages and more clients who know what to expect.
5. The questions you are always asked
Gather in one section the questions you get every week: how to prepare for the session, how long it lasts, how to look after a fresh tattoo, what happens if it needs a touch-up, or what your cancellation policy is. Every written answer is one less message to reply to.
6. Where you are and how to contact you
Your address (or at least the area, if you only work by appointment), opening hours, an email or phone number and your Instagram. And a Google business profile with the same details, so people looking for a tattoo studio nearby can find you.
7. Fast on mobile
If people discover you on Instagram, they reach your website on their phone. It has to load quickly even with a poor signal and be easy to read on a small screen. Photos are the heaviest part: they need to be prepared so they look good without making anyone wait.
8. Legal texts and privacy
In Spain, a business website needs a legal notice with the owner’s details and, if it collects data through a form, a privacy policy. If it uses cookies that aren’t strictly technical, it also needs a cookie notice. It isn’t just paperwork: it tells the people who contact you who you are and what you do with their data.
A real example
The website of Madrid tattoo artist Tomasxcanales, which we built, follows this idea: a video homepage showing his work, an archive with every piece and the part of the body it is on, an artist page and step-by-step booking that ends in a ready-written WhatsApp message.
